December 7th is Charter Turn-in Day

Mark your calendars! Charter Turn-in Day is December 7th at Immaculate Conception School Cafeteria from 9am to noon. All of the Re-charter forms as well as the October Roundtable's Re-charter presentation can be found at: http://delmarvacouncil.doubleknot.com/cecil-district-re-charter-forms-2012/50179.

National BSA Membership Fee Increase

National BSA has announced an increase in the annual membership fee from $15/year to $24/year effective January 1, 2014.  This fee increase insures continued excellence in a myriad of programs that are conducted for Scouting at the National level such as four high adventure camps, youth protection program, communication/training/advancement materials, and staff support.  The price of Boy’s Life will remain the same ($12/year).  Further details on the fee increase may be found in the most recent issue of The Buzz at www.delmarvacouncil.org/CMS/PageViewer.aspx?PageID=12464&preview=yes

Each year across the Nation, Scouts and Scouters work to collect food in coordinated drives throughout the year to help feed those who are less fortunate or in need in our local communities. To that end, please use the link below to sign your unit up to participate in the Scouting for Food Campaign this November. Bag distribution day is set for Saturday, November 16th with pick up on Saturday, November 23rd.

Let’s get 100% of our units to help out every community on the Delmarva Peninsula this year. If you have any questions, please contact Nick Henry, our District Executive. As in the past, bags will be available to your unit at the October Roundtable.

Scout Leader Training

Why are we always talking about TRAINING?

  1. Because every Scout deserves a trained leader.
  2. Because it is required that youth-facing leaders are trained in the position they are serving as well as in Youth Protection.

As we approach Re-Charter time, Unit leaders are urged to bring their training up to date so as to minimize issues on December 7th.

Voice of the Scout:  Leaders:  Encourage your unit personnel to log onto myscouting.org and verify their email address.  This will allow everyone to participate in the “Voice of the Scout” surveys that appear periodically.  These surveys are reviewed by Council leaders and the responses taken seriously.
